Especially useful for not Elgato capture cards.
So first up. Obtain VLC: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/
Install that. Nice.
Launch that thing and gonna go to the "Media" tab.

Then open up "Open Capture Device" and look for "Device Selection > Video Device Name" and select the capture device. In my case it'll be this evga XR1 Lite.

From there, click "Advanced Options." In this window you'll change aspect ratio; by default it'll be 4:3. Device Properties will also be unticked. Change aspect ratio to 16:9 and click Device Properties. It'll look like this. Click OK to move on!

Before we move on to hitting that play button. There's a Show More Options tick box. Click and there will be "Caching" right at the time. Basically latency. Change this to 1ms.

Now we can hit Play and start progressing forward! Just a couple more dialog boxes. Nothing to do here, really. May look a little different for you. Just hit OK.

This is one of the boxes we want. This'll setup the video player. We want Frame Rate and Output Size. 1080 or 720p, up to you. Guess it's which one looks better OR game dependent. Once it's all set, hit Apply and OK!

Next box is for audio, nothing to do here really. Just hit OK.

Just in case audio doesn't happen. Change the audio to the capture device if default isn't working.

After all of that. Hopefully everything is all good and stuff. You're off to play Switch at your desk in comfort of your epic comfy chair while doing whatever else on the PC. Also, yes I know handheld. But controller more comfortable and also reclining and also work on some other stuff. Enjoy!
